Thomas Lesueur, Companion of the Tour de France

He began his career as an apprentice in the joinery-aluminium section at the Lycée Don Bosco in Nice, and took his first steps in the workshop of Biot ironmonger Alain Pélissier.

The master passed on his passion for metal, and Thomas joined the great adventure of the Compagnons du devoir, completing a 7-year Tour de France. After spending his first year in metal construction in Bastia, he entered a renowned establishment, the École Internationale de Ferronnerie Française in Reims, where he obtained his Brevet de Maîtrise in ironwork and art history and acquired the know-how of this craft. He continued his career across the Atlantic, in New York, where he joined Les Métalliers Champenois, a company responsible for prestigious projects such as the restoration of the flame on the Statue of Liberty.

He completed his masterpiece in Epône and became a Compagnon du Tour de France, before joining the Fondation Coubertin's Ateliers Saint Jacques, where he learned to ‘combine the mind with the hand’. Finally, in the spirit of Compagnonnage, he gave his time to training young metalwork apprentices at the Maison des Compagnons in Marseille, before devoting himself to his personal project of setting up Atelier SL with Nicolas. With a technical and multi-disciplinary profile, Thomas creates all types of work with a single credo: ‘rigour, passion and generosity’.

Nicolas Singery, a graduate of the Ecole Boulle

Fascinated by joinery from an early age, Nicolas joined the Compagnons du devoir as an apprentice after secondary school. He began his apprenticeship in carpentry, where he learnt the techniques involved. His career took a new turn when he met Anne De Bataille.

Anne De Bataille, a decorator and former student of the Ecole Boulle, passed on her passion for her craft to Nicolas, who soon afterwards enrolled at the famous school. For 4 years, he studied ‘the layout of the architectural environment’ and rubbed shoulders with the elite of the field, which opened the doors of the building industry to him. He practised his trade at the AM Agencement agency in Nice and became assistant site manager for the Lizée group in Saint Laurent du Var. There he learned about project management and site management. He then joined the Cessot Agencement design office in Nogent le Rotrou, where he developed the ‘Kris Opticien’, ‘Oxbow’ and ‘Orange’ concepts and acquired skills in semi-industrial metalwork.

After graduating, he flew to New York where he was hired by Pierre Court Design, responsible for the renovation of the New York Palace, the Kempinski Hotel in Munich and the Opera Gallery. On his return to France, he joined the Casamanara interior design agency in Monaco, where he conceived, designed and managed projects for some of Monte Carlo's most famous families, before returning to his native Biot, where he set up his own studio with Thomas.
